“We are so thankful to Amalgamated Sugar for continuing to support our teams in this race,” said Jessica McAnally, a member of Sugar Rush. “Also, our volunteers are amazing for giving up their free time to help with the race – So a special thank you to Fran, Paulette and Holly!”

The teams traveled up into the Sawtooth Mountains on Friday, June 7. They spent the night at a cabin on Smiley Creek, courtesy of Snake River Sugar Company board member, Mark Henslee. On arrival, everyone shared a team dinner prepared by Snake River Sugar Company board member, Jeff Henry and his family.

Runners began the race before sunrise on June 8, in below freezing temperatures. Regardless of the cold, the scenery was beautiful and the time with colleagues was fun and memorable. “This is my third time running on our corporate team. What I really enjoy about this experience, and why I continue to participate, is the opportunity to collaborate with people you might not normally interact with,” said Angie Spaulding, a member of Running to The Beet. “This is not just an opportunity to socialize, although we do, but we must work together to accomplish something challenging as a group.”

“The relay is long, and difficult, and the weather conditions are unpredictable. You truly need teammates who will lift each other up, encourage and motivate each other,” said Spaulding. “I am inspired by how much we all give to boost a person you may only know by name, or perhaps have never met. It was really special, this year, to share the experience with my son and husband.”

There were 172 teams that ran the relay, and 14 teams that competed in the Corporate division. Final times and places for the three teams are listed below.
