Amalgamated Sugar Offers $25,000 Donation Challenge for The Idaho Foodbank

As a part of Amalgamated Sugar’s commitment to fighting food insecurity in our local communities, the Company has launched a $25,000 donation challenge to support The Idaho Foodbank’s capital campaign. During the month of June, the Company is encouraging sugarbeet growers, Amalgamated Sugar employees, and the public to increase the impact of their donations by contributing.

The Idaho Foodbank is raising funds to pay off the purchase of a larger warehouse and office with A Fresh Approach Capital Campaign. “In the past, our challenge has not been a shortage of food, but a lack of warehouse space,” said Karen Vauk, President & CEO of The Idaho Foodbank. “This new warehouse resolves the capacity issue, especially for perishable goods, and improves our ability to distribute food in a timely way to feed Idaho families, seniors, and children facing hunger.”

“We are pleased to support such a worthy cause,” said John McCreedy, President & CEO of Amalgamated Sugar. “We hope that other members of the community will join us in this effort.”

Amalgamated Sugar will match donations up to $25,000 made by utilizing The Idaho Foodbank’s website payment platform, found by clicking here.

Each year, Amalgamated Sugar donates over 86,000 pounds of sugar to local food banks, senior centers, and other organizations whose mission is to end hunger in our local communities. The Company also sponsors select charitable events and organizations that benefit youth, STEM education, health & nutrition, and agriculture.

One donation in this campaign was $500 from the BCTGM union Nampa local 284G.
