A small event was held Friday, September 10 to celebrate the success of Amalgamated Sugar and The Idaho Foodbank’s recent fundraising partnership.
This summer, Amalgamated Sugar partnered with The Idaho Foodbank by offering a $25,000 donation match challenge in support of The Idaho Foodbank’s A Fresh Approach Capital Campaign. Thanks in part to local sugarbeet growers, Amalgamated Sugar employees, and the public, over $40,000 was raised in support of the campaign.
The Idaho Foodbank’s A Fresh Approach Capital Campaign is an effort to pay off the purchase of a larger warehouse and office space. “Thanks to the support of Amalgamated Sugar, we are getting even closer to our goal of having no building debt and focusing every single dollar to becoming a hunger-free Idaho,” said Karen Vauk, President & CEO of The Idaho Foodbank.
“Amalgamated Sugar is committed to fighting food insecurity in our local communities,” said John McCreedy, President & CEO of Amalgamated Sugar. “We are thankful to those who share in our commitment and participated by donating to this worthy cause.”
Each year, Amalgamated Sugar donates over 86,000 pounds of sugar to local food banks, senior centers, and other organizations whose mission is to end hunger in our local communities. The Company also sponsors select charitable events and organizations that benefit youth, STEM education, health & nutrition, and agriculture.
